NEWS FROM THE DISTRICT

Brothers and Coworkers,

As this article reaches you, we're more than half way through the Moose year. Membership is down, and some Lodges are just "scraping" by. This is where you the member need to lend a helping hand. International membership campaigns are in place, as well as VMA. Your individual Lodges should also have 'in house' campaigns such as waiving application fee, or something as simple as 'Moose Bucks'. Create Some Interest in your Lodge by coming up with ideas for fundraising events, membership drives and the all important, RETENTION!!! Go to your Board of Officers if you have any ideas to help your lodge become a better place to be. After all, it is YOUR lodge.

On a District note, our next meeting will be on Jan 8th, 2012 at Vinton MFC #1121. Executive session at 12:00 and general meeting at 1:00. Nominations will be taken, for next year, at our April 15th District 11 meeting to be held at Smith Mountain Lake #2346. Elections will be held at the District meeting at Roanoke MFC #284 June 10th. If you are willing to put forth the time and effort to become a District Officer, please be at all of the upcoming meetings and nominate yourself or someone you know. In closing, let me say that this has been a good year for myself and my wife, Tammy. Behind every good man stands a good woman. Thank you Tammy for being the support I need when I need it.
